Every year around this time, my overriding thought is always "Peace on Earth." We have been bombarded with such bad news lately: mass shootings, bigoted presidential candidates, Islamophobia, income inequality, the plights of the refugees seeking asylum and countless other terrible things, as well any other personal struggles that you may be struggling with. With all of these going on, it's easy to feel a weariness of the spirit.
One of the reasons why I make art is that it serves as a reminder that there is still beauty to behold and share. When the weight of the world starts to get to me, making art reminds me that there is still hope and a chance for renewal. The greatest reward I receive as an artist is when someone tells me that my work helped get them through a bad day or lifted their spirits when they were feeling low. I am so grateful to be able to share my creative experiences with each of you and am humbled by the kindness and support that you have bestowed upon me.
Whatever you celebrate, I wish you joy and peace during this holiday and beyond into 2016. May the weariness in your spirit be replenished with hope and renewal.
Peace on Earth.
