I rang in the New Year without much fanfare. Oddly enough, I felt relieved that New Year's Eve marked the beginning of the end of the holiday season. I felt relieved because I felt exhausted by the holidays more than any year before.
Part of it was because I was burnt out from the plethora of holiday pictures, memes and sentiments that dominated social media and the commercials. It all made you feel like you had better feel the holiday spirit or else... The other reason why I think I felt exhausted was because 2013 was exhausting and not in a good way. I spent the majority of this past year working long hours on my day jobs, which left me very little time or enthusiasm to work on my artistic endeavors. My creativity waned, I neglected my blog, and I was bored with my current range of work, which was mostly street photography. Feeling cut off from my creativity left me feeling pretty depleted, which might explain why I felt so exhausted by the time December rolled around. Luckily, I carved some time out for myself around Christmas to buckle down and revamp my website. I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out! I cranked out some new Inkscapes and even recharged my batteries by spending time a fish store in Manhattan, of all places. Pictures of that will be forthcoming. I have a lot in store for 2014, which will include a new show later into this year and more experimentation with the Inkscapes which I love doing. I'm also geeked about my new streamlined site because it's a lot more user friendly and easy to navigate. I think streamlining will be my theme for this year. So enjoy the new site! Have a look around and stay a while and stay tuned in.
