This a shot of me "working" while I'm in my studio. I use quotation marks around the word working because as you can see on my computer screen, I'm checking out Facebook.
But in all seriousness, mornings are the most productive parts of my day. After getting up and doing some stretching, I hop on the computer and check messages and surf while sipping either coffee, tea or a smoothie. I love mornings because they represent possibilities; they're a daily reminder of renewal and hope. The last few days I have been holed up in the studio on my grind to get my latest project launched by next week. I'm really psyched about it and can tell that I'm really feeling it because I can work with unbelievable focus to the point that sometimes I forget to eat lunch. It's a wonderful feeling...except when I get massively hungry. So, off I go to get my second cup of coffee. Here is to new possibilities!

I've been working on a few exciting little projects over here in the studio that I can't wait to share with you. I've been spending the day getting them ready and photographing like crazy so stay tuned!
Here's the final work of my photoshoot with my cousin Frances. I really LOVE how this turned out! I wanted to capture this sense of her being warmed and comforted by washes of color. I got the idea because I know how much she loves warm weather and when I took this shot, it looked like she was luxuriating in the summer sun. I chose to isolate the color within a black and white hue to give the sense that she was unthawing from the cold winter (which we're all still trying to do in frigid New York).
Frances' portrait is the first in a new series that I will be working where I incorporate people with my Inkscapes. I thought it was only fitting since she was the first one to tell me that she thought I was onto something with them. She makes these inks look good! |
